Let me start off by saying that if you're here from a mom's group to judge and shell out anecdotal evidence of my wrongdoing, well, thy cup runneth over my friend.
We have a 4 year old daughter named Cece. We also have a pool. And ever since Cece was a baby, she's loved the pool - albeit, she's been cautious of it. Every season we open it up, and it takes a few swims before she really feels comfortable swimming. And her latest hurdle has been jumping in off the side. Despite her friends doing it, and her family encouraging it, she's been holding out.
Until yesterday, that is... when I tricked her into doing it.
See, after watching her jump off the steps a few times, I encouraged her to jump off the side into my waiting arms which she did about 3 times. And then, on the 4th time, in an obvious and premeditated act of unabashed betrayal - I just didn't catch her. And as soon as she came up from out of the water, we cheered and hugged because she had FINALLY JUMPED INTO THE POOL!
Was it wrong? I don't know. Did it work? Absolutely it did. See:
That was jump #48. And she probably jumped 48 more times after that.
Actually, make that 51. A nice and even 100.
