Lainy Fredrickson is a special needs student at Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma.
Last week, in the final moments of their game against rival Norman North, the crowd witnessed something very special. Lainy scored the final two points of the game with LOUD cheers from the crowd.
When the entire student section started cheering "Lainy, Lainy, Lainy," - goosebumps covered my body, so I can only imagine what the crowd must have felt witnessing such a special scene in person.
Lainy became involved with the team due to senior Brennan Hockett, who began a program called "Tiger Teammates" which offers students with special needs the chance to take part in school sports programs.
Lainy's mom, Mona Fredrickson, said "A lot of times the kids in high school get a bad rap, but he love was overflowing. They were all pulling for her to make that basket. To see the reaction from the crowd and the rival team - they were cheering her on. It was awesome."
We agree... this is totally awesome.
