Joel's girlfriend, Cara, grew up in awe of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. (What little girl didn't feel that way?!) Joel was inspired to recreate the famous scene in the library. He decided to make a dress to go along with the proposal. He hand-made the dress, which is amazing because he said he'd never sewn anything in his life! Over winter break, he sometimes spent 14 hours a day sewing.
