Anne Hathaway teamed up with Anna Wintour on the Oscars stage on Sunday evening (March 15), and together, the duo made an unforgettable nod to The Devil Wears Prada.
Hathaway wore a stunning, strapless black floral gown with dramatic black gloves and dazzling accessories as she walked on stage with Wintour, donning a white gown with a sleek black jacket. Together, the pair presented the awards in the Costume Design and Makeup and Hairstyling categories.
“Anna, would you like to read the nominees?” Hathaway offered ahead of the second award.
“Thank you, Emily,” Wintour replied, referencing the iconic 2006 film.
Hathaway starred as aspiring journalist Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada. The original focused on “Andy, a smart but sensible young graduate, (who) travels to New York,” per IMDb. “She starts working as an assistant to one of the city's biggest high fashion magazine editors, the cynical Miranda Priestly.” Meryl Streep starred as Priestly, Emily Blunt payed Emily, Stanley Tucci played Nigel, and more.
Those original cast members and other stars will appear in the highly-anticipated The Devil Wears Prada 2, arriving two decades after the first film. The sequel “follows Miranda Priestly's struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement.” It’s set to premiere in theaters on May 1.
