Ed Sheeran is setting the record straight.
The "Sapphire" singer stirred up some confusion during a recent podcast appearance where he shared that he was "just about to move to America," leading many to believe he and his family were packing up their life in the U.K. in favor of the States, per People. He pointed out how that appears to be the opposite case for other celebrities, such as Ellen DeGeneres, who have fled the U.S. and moved overseas.
"I feel like I might be the only person moving to America," he said. He added that it would make more sense to bring his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two daughters, Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3, stateside while on tour. "I'm going on tour there for a while and I have a family, so I can't dip in and out. We're going and settling there."
However, while Sheeran may be "relocating" to the U.S. soon, the move won't be permanent. On Tuesday (September 9), the 34-year-old musician cleared up the idea he was forever leaving his home in England, writing in an Instagram Story that he was "setting the record straight" and hitting back at a "narrative" that "people wanna move out of UK for some reason."
"I'm not moving, I'm going on tour with my family and relocating to the continent I'm touring on, don't wanna commute from London to San Diego obvz," he said, before stressing that it "isn't a tax thing" and that he'll "always pay tax in uk coz that's where I live."
Ed Sheeran will be taking over the stage at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by Capital One on September 19 and 20 in Las Vegas. Fans can tune in to the music mega even all weekend as it will be broadcast live each night via iHeartMedia radio stations throughout the country across more than 150 markets. Hulu will be the Official Streaming Destination of the festival, with performances livestreamed each night exclusively to all Hulu subscribers.
