Ariana Grande Sued For Allegedly Ripping Off The Song "7 Rings"

A man named Josh Stone claims that Ariana Grande stole the song "7 Rings" from him, and has filed a lawsuit against the pop star and is asking for profits, TMZ reports. Stone, who goes by stage name Dot, claims he wrote a song called "You Need It, I Got It," in January of 2017, two years before Grande recorded "7 Rings."

Stone contends that the hook to Grande's song is, "I want it, I got it, I want it, I got it," while the hook to his song is, "You need it, I got it. You want it, I got it," among other similarities.

Dot also says he met with producer Tommy Brown, who worked on Grande's album, and that Brown liked his song a lot.

One of Grande's reps responded to the outlet, saying "7 Rings" also has the same hook as "The Sound of Music," and that Stone's claims are ridiculous.
