Last week, Buckingham Palace publicly shared the news that Prince Philip was hospitalized in London. At the time, the Palace stated he was only hospitalized as a precautionary measure—the Duke of Edinburgh is 99-years-old, after all. After remaining hospitalized for a full week with no plans for a discharge, Buckingham Palace revealed Queen Elizabeth's husband is being treated for an infection and will remain in the hospital for the foreseeable future.

Little else is currently know about the Duke of Edinburgh's condition. A source close to his grandson, Prince Harry, told Best Life that the Duke of Sussex is making emergency plans to fly back to the U.K. should Prince Philip's health decline.

"Harry was very much focused on announcing he and Meghan are expecting a second child and was then caught up in emotional conversations with his grandmother about losing his military titles and patronages and the interview on American television," the source said. "When he was told Prince Philip would remain in hospital this week, he began making arrangements to make sure he can get back to see his grandfather should things become urgent."

Despite concerns about Prince Philip's condition, Prince William shared a positive update about his grandfather's health while visiting a vaccine center in Norfolk. "He's okay," the Duke of Cambridge told royal photographer Arthur Edwards at the official royal engagement. "They're keeping an eye on him."

A royal source spoke to People about Prince Philip's hospitalization and medical care. "Following consultation with his doctor, the Duke of Edinburgh is likely to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into next week," the source explained. "The doctor is acting with an abundance of caution. The Duke remains in good spirits."
