Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is officially done with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, citing her parental obligations and the change in show direction as her reasons for departure. In a new clip from her January 2020 appearance on The Mel Robbins Show, the star offered up a little more and recalled the moment that led her to retire from the comeback series.

"I think when I was, like, actually forcing myself to be in a situation that I wasn’t happy in. Like, I was forcing myself to be 'happy,' and I'm like, 'That’s not me.' I’m not genuinely happy," the star, 32, said via Us Weekly. "That’s when I’m like, 'I’m out.'"

"It was really hard, but I had to think about my happiness and where I really wanted myself to be, and it’s being a mom and being [with my] kids and not drama and drinking … and drama," she continued.

Snooki announced her exit from the show last week during an episode of her podcast, It's Happening with Snooki and Joey. "There's reasons why I came to this decision... It's definitely a hard decision," she told listeners, admitting that she was "definitely sure" about her exit. "I love you so much and don't hate me for my decision, but I have to do what's best for me at the moment. And I am retiring from Jersey Shore. I am not coming back to Jersey Shore for season four if there is one."

"I just can’t do it anymore. Like, literally, leaving my kids to film it is really, really hard on me... I try and quit every single day. The poor producers are like, 'Dude, are you going to quit this time?'" she explained, adding, "When I leave my kids and I film the show, I want to have a good time and I'm putting myself out there and I just want to come off as a good person. And lately on the show it's been very drama."

Expect to hear more of Snooki’s side of the story when her episode of The Mel Robbins Show airs on January 10, 2020.
